In the Intimacy of Whales

A glimpse of the photographs that make up this unique work

Dans l'intimité des baleines
For over fifteen years, Éric Lamblin, known as Crackoï, has been developing a patient and demanding body of work in the heart of the Indian Ocean, in pursuit of humpback whales. A photographer and freediver based in Reunion Island, he favours an approach of rare delicacy: immersing himself, slowing down, almost disappearing, in order to enter — without ever altering — the space of these giants of the wild.
Created with photographer-diver Guillaume Boeye, this book offers a visual experience of singular intensity, where each image seems suspended between power and fragility, between appearance and fading. More than a book, it is a work of contemplation, an invitation to experience the depth of the living world and to question, with humility, our place in the face of what surpasses us.
